Quality
We have developed an extensive range of testing techniques at our Binbrook based laboratory, which serves
all Group companies. In qualifying materials we aim to determine each materials physical properties so that
information is available to the customer to ensure their expectations are met.
Testing capabilities are as listed below:
Using the latest Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectrometry technology we are able to quickly identify
plastic types from the waste stream.
By offering a plastic ID service to our suppliers and recycling partners we are able to reduce the number of
cases of material cross contamination during the recycling process.
We ensure any batch of material that is to be tested for quality is sampled in such a way that the tests are
as representative as possible of the batch. Every IBC bag of reground material handled at Binbrook is sampled
from the top, middle and bottom to ensure confidence in the results.
We determine the melt flow rate of most materials as this is one of the established quality characteristics
required by all customers, highlighting consistency through viscosity measurement.
Through controlled combustion at 650°C we can measure for mineral filler content and even establish filler type,
glass, talc, chalk, etc.
Through preparation of injection moulded test specimens we can measure the impact resistance, flexural properties,
hardness and density of individual materials.
We offer a comprehensive range of plastic testing facilities and on request can produce certificates of analysis
for materials supplied.
